Pick Up Your Toys

My two grandsons, 5 and 6 years old were told by their mother to pick up the toys in their room. After saying this many times, their mother, my daughter, began picking up some and putting them into the toy box. Now, as the reader, what do you think? I told my grandsons that they made the mess; they need to clean it up. I gave them a crate and suggested they put all the tiny cars and trucks in the crate. Then they could take a 30-minute break. Then they could put the larger toys in the toybox. This seemed to work with a break in between.

My Introduction and Experience

I started Grandma's Point of View because I am a grandmother, called MaaMaa by my grandchildren. Presently, I have 8 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and one great granddaughter. My husband has 6 gransons, and 3 granddaughters. He has 1 great grandson and 1 great grandaughter, and two more on the way. I have one more on the way. Believe me, I have a point of view of many topics. My views come from many years of dealing with children. I also teach Direct Instruction reading at our local elementary school. It is quite rewarding.

If anyone needs a little free advice or have questions regarding the "little people" or teens in your life, I would love to hear from you. Advice works sometimes and sometimes not. I will only provide information that may help. It will be trial and error on your part. I am not an expert. I will only be sharing my experiences with rearing children and grandchildren. Several of my grandchildren have lived with my husband and me for periods of time. We still have a daughter and two grandsons living with us. The boys are 5 and 6.

I cannot wait to hear from parents and other family members who spend time with "little people." If I can offer any suggestions for smoother sailing, I will be doing what I have set out to do. Good luck with your little ones, and God Bless You.
